Dog Food Recall: Natural Life Pet Products Recalls Dry Food Due to Elevated Levels of Vitamin D

Cause: Potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D

Announcement: FDA recall notice dated March 16, 2020

What was recalled: Chicken and Potato Dry Dog Food

Natural Life Pet Products is voluntarily recalling its Chicken & Potato dry dog food due to the presence of elevated levels of Vitamin D. The affected products are sold in a 17.5 lbs. bag with a Best By date of 5/29/2020 through 08/10/2020 on the bottom of the bag.

This dry food was distributed in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and California. This recall was initiated after Natural Life received three complaints from pet owners whose dog showed signs of Vitamin D toxicity after consuming the food.

Consumption of more Vitamin D than is necessary for the body can lead to negative health impacts, including vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and renal failure in dogs.
