Dog Food Recall: Wet Noses Natural Dog Treat Company Recalls Simply Nourish Brand Frozen Dog Food Due to Elevated Levels of Vitamin D

Cause: Elevated levels of Vitamin D

Announcement: FDA recall notice dated August 13, 2021

What was recalled: Simply Nourish frozen dog food

Wet Noses Natural Dog Treat Company is voluntarily recalling approximately 51,000 packages of Simply Nourish frozen dog food due to elevated levels of Vitamin D. The affected products were distributed at PetSmart stores nationwide.

The recalled products are sold in 2lb. and 4.5 packages and include Simply Nourish Chicken & Veggies (Best By 11/10/2022-1/12/2023), Simply Nourish Frozen Beef & Barley (Best By 11/10/2022-1/12/2023), Simply Nourish Frozen Turkey & Sweet Potato (Best By 11/10/2022-1/12/2023), and Simply Nourish Frozen Pork & Veggies (Best By 8/26/2022-1/13/2023).

Symptoms of Vitamin D toxicity in dogs include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Consuming high levels of Vitamin D for extended periods can lead to much more serious health issues, including renal failure. If your dog consumed the affected product, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian.
