Dog Food Recall: Smokehouse Pet Products Inc. Recalls All Lots of “Beefy Munchies” Sold Nationwide due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

Cause: Possible Salmonella contamination

Announcement: FDA recall notice dated Feb. 16, 2018

What was recalled: All lots of “Beefy Munchies” dog treats sold nationwide

Smokehouse Pet Products, Inc. is recalling all sizes and package types of “Beefy Munchies” dog treats due to potential contamination with Salmonella. The affected products were sold nationwide and come packaged in individual bags, resealable bags, and plastic tubs (the latter are labelled “Beefy Bites”).

The possible contamination was discovered during routine testing by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, which revealed the presence of Salmonella in at least two 4-ounce packages of “Beefy Munchies”.

All consumers of “Beefy Munchies” should immediately stop feeding to pets and are eligible to return to the package to the place of purchase for a refund.
