What was recalled: Chicken & Chickpea Dry Dog Food

Nutrisca is voluntarily recalling a formula of Nutrisca® Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food due to the presence of elevated levels of Vitamin D. These products were distributed nationwide and have a Best By date of Feb 25, 2020 through Sept 13, 2020.

The recalled product includes 4lb. bags (UPC 8-84244-12495-7), 15lb. bags (UPC 8-84244-12795-8), and 28lb. bags (UPC 8-84244-12895-5). Nutrisca received complaints of Vitamin D toxicity from three pet owners.

Consumption of more Vitamin D than is necessary for the body can lead to negative health impacts, including vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and renal failure in dogs.
