Cause: Potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D

Announcement: FDA recall notice dated March 11, 2020

What was recalled: Abound Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe dog food

The Kroger Company in Louisville decided to remove Abound Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe dog food from sale following a recall by Sunshine Mills, Inc due to potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D in the product.

The affected product is sold in 4 lb. packages and has Best By dates of 11/1/2018 through 11/16/2019 with a UPC of 11110-83556. Customers who bought this product should not give it to their pet and instead return it to the store for a refund.

Consumption of more Vitamin D than is necessary for the body can lead to negative health impacts, including vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and renal failure in dogs.
