Dog Food Recall: Fromm Family Foods Recalls Four-Star Shredded Entrée Canned Food for Dogs Due to Elevated Levels of Vitamin D

What was recalled: Four-Star Nutritionals Shredded Entrée canned dog food

Fromm Family Foods is voluntarily recalling 5,500 cases of Fromm Shredded canned food due to potentially elevated levels of Vitamin D. The affected products were distributed nationwide at pet stores.

The recalled products are packaged in 12oz. cans with a Best By date of 08/2024 and include the following foods:

  • Four-Star Shredded Beef in Gravy Entrée (12 cans per case, UPC 7270511876)
  • Four-Star Shredded Chicken in Gravy Entrée (12 cans per case, UPC 7270511880)
  • Four-Star Shredded Pork in Gravy Entrée (12 cans per case, UPC 7270511878)
  • Four-Star Shredded Turkey in Gravy Entrée (12 cans per case, UPC 7270511882)

Symptoms of Vitamin D toxicity in dogs include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Consuming high levels of Vitamin D for extended periods can lead to much more serious health issues, including renal failure. If your dog consumed the affected product, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian.
