Allprovide Dog Food Reviews

Allprovide is a small brand manufactured in Georgia. They manufacture their own foods in their own facility. They claim their meats are all USDA inspected and their fruits and vegetables come from US suppliers, with the exception of their turmeric, oregano and hemp seed oil. They have recently moved to using more organic produce in their recipes.

Allprovide currently offers raw foods, cooked foods, bones and bone broth.

IS ALLPROVIDE A GOOD DOG FOOD?

Overall, Allprovide is an acceptable option for raw and cooked dog foods. Both lines score equally high in ingredient quality and ingredient safety. The biggest difference is that cooked food is moderately processed. Both lines have higher fat in their Pork recipes, which is less desirable. High fat diets can cause gut inflammation and gut flora imbalance. In most cases, fattier meats can be cheaper ingredients.

On the topic of macronutrients, the foods are also a bit higher in carbohydrate than many competitors but still in acceptable amounts for raw and cooked dog foods. With that said, the carbohydrate sources aren’t high in starch but are obtained from fruits and vegetables.

The company has recently changed its sourcing to use more organic produce like kale, apples, beans, spinach and mushrooms. This eliminates pesticide/herbicide use, and has elevated its food safety score. Organic produce is also non-GMO.

It’s good to see that whole food ingredients are used to provide phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. This eliminates the need for the standard premix of synthetic vitamins and mineral added to heavily processed dog foods to meet AAFCO requirements.

A noteworthy thing about Allprovide is that they report the omega-6:omega-3 ratio. This is rarely done and it’s important to know this. AAFCO allows a very high ratio of 30:1, which can be very inflammatory since omega-6 fats are pro-inflammatory. These foods average about 4:1, which is a very decent ratio since 1:1 is desirable.

On the topic of fats, what we don’t like about this food is the addition of coconut oil. This food is rich in saturated fats and lauric acid, which some studies show can increase gut inflammation and permeability.
